Why you should buy She said He said

Another SSHS selfie from Beverley in South Africa
You know those conversations that just flow naturally like a stream of consciousness, yet everything that needs to be said is said succinctly, and at just the right time with just the right emphasis?

You know when you keep having profound insights from one of these conversations - where what you were thinking is so perfectly encapsulated in space and time?

You know when someone finishes your sentences and you finish theirs - and you've managed, for a moment, to "bottle" the essence of what it means to be conscious, to be alive, to be human and, most importantly, to be happy and fulfilled?

Imagine if you recorded such a life-changing, life affirming conversation and transcribed it into a book.

That's what She said, He said is.

If you haven't yet bought a copy, do it now!

Meanwhile, the fan pictures keep rolling in - this one from Beverley in South Africa!

Dan Djurdjevic's first martial arts text to be published

Pikkeljig Press is proud to announce its pending publication of Dan Djurdjevic's first martial arts text, Essential Jo.

The jo is the Japanese 4-foot staff, originally taught with the ken (sword) in the samurai arts.

Essential jo is arguably the most comprehensive text on the subject to date, offering a course of study from white through to black belt in this practical, yet elegant, art.

The book features over 900 professional black and white photographs accompanied by clear, detailed textual explanations.

While it is intended primarily for students with experience in weapons arts, particularly jodo, the book can also be used by beginners for home study.

The art of jodo makes an excellent addition to any martial art system.

The book will be available in the next few days.  Watch this space for developments!

Slab huts to commuter country - published!

Pikkeljig Press is very proud to announce the publication of its latest non-fiction title: Slab Huts to Commuter Country by Dr W.L. Macdonald.

This book comprises a social history of the women of the Huon and Channel region of Tasmania from 1900 to 2013. It traces the joys, challenges and struggles of living in one of the most beautiful, yet one of the most unforgiving, places on the planet. It charts the rapid change from frontier society to modern State - and how the women of this region responded.

Given the scarcity of texts written about Tasmanian social history, and the almost complete absence of any detailing that history from the perspective of women, we take particular pride in this thoroughly researched, yet immediately accessible and compelling volume.  What Dr Macdonald has done in terms of preserving fast-fading oral history is nothing short of astounding in both its scope and importance to future generations.  The photographs and the author's own illustrations contribute significantly to the richness of her research.

We hope you enjoy this amazing work.  May it receive the recognition it deserves.
